DQS CFS and the United Nations
Within DQS Group, the German Association for Sustainability DQS CFS focuses primarily on the consumer goods industry, including food and feed, consumer products, textiles and cosmetics. As a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact, DQS CFS continues to support the ten principles on human and labor rights, the environment and anti-corruption.
But sustainability has many aspects. As a certification body with years of expertise in the food industry, DQS Holding is proud to announce that our wholly-owned subsidiary has been chosen as the preferred audit partner of the UN‘s World Food Programme.
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world‘s largest humanitarian organization committed to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition. In 2017 alone, WFP purchased more than 2.9 million metric tons of food from more than 600 suppliers in 115 countries. Their activities in food assistance reach more than 80 million people in 75 countries every year. To ensure food safety and quality, the WFP’s FSQ Unit has now established a Long-Term-Agreement with DQS CFS, covering approximately 50 supplier audits per year based on the GFSI Checklist. The audits will be conducted across all continents.
There is no way back from sustainability – which is why all over the world, the local offices of DQS Group continue the efforts of DQS CFS in their countries, such as recently in Greece, where DQS Hellas co-hosted a Sustainability Conference with the Greek German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event featured a number of high-level speakers from government, industry and academia, as well as the CEO of DQS CFS, Dr. Sied Sadek. Read here about why it’s so important to align modern business strategy on Corporate and Social Responsibility with the global Sustainable Development goals.
